Two ways to buy a SOC 2 report

Every SOC 2 has two parts. One is the preparation: policies, evidence, control mapping, the work that gets you ready. The other is the examination, which only a licensed CPA firm may perform and sign.¹ The question is whether one company sells you both, or two.

Thoropass sells both under one roof. You get the platform, the auditors and one contract. We sell the preparation, and the examination is performed by an independent partner auditor, a licensed U.S. CPA firm. The firm is named before you sign the engagement letter, so you can check its license with the state board before any money moves.⁴

Neither shape is wrong. A CPA firm that also helps a client prepare has to meet the AICPA independence rules for that combination, and those rules are public.² Thoropass states that its audit team performs an independent assessment. If a customer’s security reviewer asks how that works, ask Thoropass for the answer in writing.

What Thoropass publishes about price

Less than the rest of its site. There is no pricing page to read, and the pricing address sends you to the homepage instead.

• Thoropass has no public pricing page. Its pricing URL redirects to the homepage, where the FAQ states that pricing varies based on the frameworks pursued, audit scope, company size and required services, and that organizations receive a tailored quote. Source, checked 2026-09-28.

That is an honest description of how a bundled firm has to price. Scope drives audit hours, and audit hours drive the fee. It does mean that you cannot compare the two products on money until somebody at Thoropass has scoped you on a call.

What we charge

Our price sits on the pricing page, and it starts with something free. The free readiness assessment takes about 15 minutes, needs no card, and returns a readiness score with your gaps counted, so you know where you stand first.

Getting audit-ready is $2,000 one time. When you are ready to start the clock, SOC 2 Type 2 runs at $600 per month on a 12-month term, and your first SOC 2 Type 2 audit is included in the term. Paying $6,600 up front covers the first 12 months instead. The first year on this path is $9,200 in total.

The SOC 2 Type 1 examination is optional. Add it later for $2,000, or buy it with onboarding for $4,000 in total, which puts the first year at $11,200. The auditor engagement fee sits inside those figures.

After the first Type 2, the next audit is arranged on request rather than priced on a page. You ask for a quote, our team negotiates with independent audit firms on your behalf, and the engagement is quoted before it begins, so there is no second price list to read.

Where Thoropass is the better buy

Thoropass has real advantages for some buyers, and several of them are things we do not sell at all. Here they are, each backed by what Thoropass publishes.

• You want one contract. A single firm for the platform and the audit means one vendor review, one invoice and one set of people. If that simplicity is worth money to you, it is a fair reason to pay for it.
• You need more frameworks. We sell SOC 2 and ISO 27001, and nothing else.

• You want published proof. We publish no customer counts, case studies or logos. Thoropass does publish some.

Peer review is a real signal. It is the AICPA program that checks the quality of a firm’s attest work, and you can ask any CPA firm for its latest result.³ Ask the same of the firm that would examine you through us.

How to decide

If you need HITRUST, PCI DSS or a pentest this year, the bundle is probably worth paying for, and a published price elsewhere does not change that. If you need one SOC 2 report for one customer and want the number before the call, the separate model is simpler to budget.
