AIUC-1: the AI agent standard, explained.
How certification works, what the requirements ask, who can audit, and what drives the cost.
AIUC-1 is a certification standard for AI agents, published by the Artificial Intelligence Underwriting Company (AIUC). AIUC runs the technical evaluations and issues the certificate, and an auditor that AIUC has accredited reviews the controls. On October 19, 2026 the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and AIUC announced one engagement that produces both a SOC 2 report and an AIUC-1 certification. These guides use AIUC's published material as read on that date.
