    Intake and program scoping

    Tell us which state or local buyers you are chasing and what data you would hold for them. That sets the program and the impact level before anything is billed.

  2. Step 2

    Deterministic gap analysis

    Your intake answers are compared to the NIST 800-53 baseline for your level and the program's own requirements, producing a fixed gap list ordered for the assessor.

  3. Step 3

    Policies, SSP, and evidence binder

    Policies and the System Security Plan are drafted from your answers. Evidence is filed by control so the same binder serves TX-RAMP, GovRAMP, and a later FedRAMP push.

  4. Step 4

    Assessment and authorization

    GovRAMP requires a Third Party Assessment Organization arranged through partner firms. TX-RAMP is certified by the Texas Department of Information Resources directly.

TX-RAMP certification is issued by the Texas Department of Information Resources, and GovRAMP authorization by its program office after a Third Party Assessment Organization review; Polara prepares the package and is neither.

Polara Labs is not an accredited assessor. Assessments are performed by the independent assessor the framework requires.

What buyers ask, and what the work actually involves.

Yes. GovRAMP, formerly StateRAMP, changed its name in 2025 to reflect that local governments, school districts, and public universities use it too, not only state agencies. The requirements did not change with the name.
Platform onboarding starts at $2,000 for either program. TX-RAMP itself has no program fee from the Texas Department of Information Resources. GovRAMP membership and the Third Party Assessment Organization it requires are arranged through partner firms and priced separately.
Largely, yes. Both programs accept FedRAMP as a shortcut: GovRAMP through its fast-track review and TX-RAMP through provisional certification. If you hold neither, TX-RAMP is usually the lighter place to start for Texas buyers.
Level 1 for lower-impact systems and Level 2 for systems holding confidential data, each with its own assessment questionnaire. The Texas Department of Information Resources decides the level from the data your buyer will put in your product.
